Teaching skills for all clients and settings
The visual assessment, critical thinking and teaching skills you’ll develop in our programs will qualify you to work with almost any client in all types of studios.

AÂ highly marketable certification
Fitness-driven Pilates certification programs are only sufficient for the scripted settings they are offered in. TPC's certification is recognized world-wide.

Confidence from consistent feedback
Pilates teacher training programs should model the experience we give our clients: tailored to individual needs and learning styles, a positive learning environment, and support to make sure you successfully complete your program.

Skills to teach to the HUMAN in front of you
Our program teaches you to use the system of classical Pilates -- across all apparatus -- to develop clients' fundamental movement skills. This approach makes it easy to customize based on your client's goals and individual needs.Â

"Jessica mentored me through the tough spots of my TPC pilates training while always asking for my best. I appreciated Jessica’s diligence, follow through, and care in her teaching and would recommend her to anyone interested in classical pilates training. You will not find a better or more caring teacher, whose curious mind likes a challenge and strives to help heal a body."

ALL THE DETAILS
What's Included in Our Programs

60 Hours of Online Lectures with TPC Founders
Sisters Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segel have been training classical Pilates teachers for more than 30 years. They have codified their lifetime of work as second-generation classical Pilates teachers in iTPC, their online teacher training curriculum, which pairs with in-person mentorhship from their hand-picked Licensed Teacher Trainers.Â
iTPC allows you to work through the formal classroom learning portion of the Pilates teacher training program at your own pace rather than drinking from a firehose in a live weekend workshop format.

Private & Semi Private Pilates Lessons (live or online)
Your teaching is only as good as your commitment to your own exploration and practice of the Pilates method. For this reason, our classical Pilates teacher training programs require 50-100 lessons, depending on which program you enroll in.Â
Our trainee package includes 1-2 private lessons each month and 1-2 semi private lessons each week with Jessica Gowen. You also have access to online classes with other TPC-trained teachers. Your lessons help fine-tune your practice in a 1:1 setting and gain independence and experience comraderie and flow in a small group setting.Â

Observation Hours
During the program, you’ll observe Jessica Gowen and other experienced graduates of our classical Pilates teacher training programs while they teach clients. TPC requires 75-200 observation hours, depending on which program you enroll in.
Observation hours are invaluable for understanding how to structure a session, how to adapt to different learning styles, and how to modify exercises to meet clients’ needs.
You can observe teachers live at Activcore Druid Hills and at CORE Ormewood Park. TPC also maintains an online library of observable sessions.Â

Practice Teaching
The only way to learn how to teach well is to start teaching. Practice teaching is where you learn to speak Pilates, More importantly, practice teaching is where you learn to read the body in front of you and customize your sessions accordingly.
Practice teaching volunteer clients in your third week of the program and continues through graduation.
Initially, you’ll practice teach other trainees. Eventually you will branch out to friends and family and to regular clients. TPC requires 100-250 hours of practice teaching depending on which program you enroll in.Â

Personal Workouts
Your personal workouts are where you practice applying the information you learn in the online lecture series and in your 1:1 and semi private lessons.Â
You’ll go from fumbling your way through your workouts with an exercise list in your hand to confidently and independently flowing through a workout on any of the Pilates apparatus.
TPC requires 40-150 personal workouts, depending on the program you are enrolled in.Â

Advising Meetings & Observed Teaching
One feature of TPC’s programs that sets it apart from other classical Pilates teacher training programs is the frequency with which you receive feedback on your teaching.
You have 2-4 formal advising meetings with your teacher where you teach for feedback and discuss your progress in your program. Then, you’ll complete 3-10 additional observed teaching sessions to help you continue to fine tune your approach to session design as well as your verbal and hands-on teaching skills.Â

Case Study
Our Intermediate Plus, Bridge and Advanced programs all require you to complete a case study.
During the case study process, you’ll teach one student 40 private lessons, progressing them through as much of the Pilates system as possible. You’ll build their movement skills across all apparatus and document their progress and get feedback from your advisor each month.
Trainees in our upper level programs report that the case study process is one of the most valuable parts of their Pilates teacher training process.Â

Testing
All of our programs include written testing on the history and facts of the Pilates system, basic anatomy, and case-specific approaches to teaches. In order to graduate, you also have a performance assessment (evaluating your practice) and a practical assessment (evaluating your teaching).
At every step of the way, testing is designed both to make sure you are on track with your progress through the programs and to encourage you to deepen your understanding of the method and how to practice and teach it. In short, even your testing is a learning experience.

The Pilates Teaching Training Program
is PERFECT for you if…

You want a classical Pilates teacher training program that teaches you to use your own voice within the traditional method

You need structure, accountability and encouragement to move through a year-long program commitment

You aspire to help others transform their lives with the Pilates method.
A note from Jessica…

I created the cohort-based learning model for my TPC students because I saw the need for community support as trainees move through the teacher training process. While TPC’s virtual/hybrid program offers a ton of flexibility, there is no substitute for having friends and colleagues who are experiencing the same training process that you are.Â
I love hosting our cohorts at Activcore Druid Hills. Aside from being a friendly, gorgeous, fully-equipped space, it allows trainees to see how Pilates works inside an integrated wellness environment. You’ll be training alongside both physical therapists and teachers from a variety of modalities and training backgrounds, all of whom are motivated by their ability to positively impact their clients’ lives.Â
I limit my cohorts so I have plenty of time to devote to each student’s learning and development as a teacher. The bonds you create during your teacher training program will run deep! I am still connected to several members of my cohort from my initial training in 2001!
The Pilates Method changed my body and the trajectory of my life. I’ve witnessed similar experiences with the thousands of students who have studied in my studios over the last 20+ years.
Sharing this powerful work with aspiring teachers is rewarding beyond measure. If you’re ready to dive deep into the method and become a teacher, I hope you’ll join us in our next cohort!Â

"Jessica is simply an amazing mentor. She has extensive knowledge of Pilates and how to work with clients’ limitations. Her ability to hone in on where improvement & strength is needed and being able to verbalize this is a huge strength in her teaching. She is frequently able to put her cues into just a few words that will stick with you forever! But most importantly, to me, was just how supportive she was when the training got challenging. She was available, authentic and encouraging. I will forever be thankful that Jessica mentored and taught me through a very important transitional time in my life."
